ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The Toile Collection forms the final chapter of The Linen Map of Belonging, translating the story of flax cultivation into a decorative surface. Moving from woven structure to narrative design, it combines handmade flax shive wallpaper with printed organic linen textiles, uniting by-product, place, and storytelling.
Made using flax processing waste embedded into a zero-waste paper, the wallpaper reclaims discarded material as a valuable surface. Printed in a deep red inspired by traditional toile de jouy, the design features drawn scenes of shared agricultural labour and historic machinery, developed from observational sketches into a repeating pattern that documents and honours the linen-making process.
The same design is printed onto unbleached organic linen using both pigment and natural dye methods, offering contrasting finishes, from crisp and detailed to soft and muted. Together, the collection brings flax’s journey from seed to interior surface, embedding memory, labour, and locality into textile form.
